Be ready for January 10, 2011.
All CC Containers will be RFID tagged!

Why RFID?

The RFID tagging operation is the result of collaboration between five partners in the horticultural industry in Europe:  FloraHolland, VGB, Landgard, GASA Group, - and the pool manager of CC Containers, Container Centralen.

The new RFID tag will take the industry a step closer towards meeting the increasing demands for optimised logistics through RFID from retailers and other players in the market. The aim is to make transport and logistics easier, faster, and cheaper in the European horticultural sector.

In order to avoid low-quality copies and secure the long term quality of the CC Container pool, Container Centralen has, throughout the years, regularly replaced the identification tags on the CC Containers. The coming tagging operation is the fifth such operation – and the first one involving the use of RFID. This new efficient container identification will benefit all users of the CC Container.

Introducing RFID to the horticultural sector is a complex process where the tagging of the CC Container bases is merely the first step. After successfully putting the RFID tag into practice we expect to turn the attention, in the second step, to tagging of the shelves that are used on the CC Container.

Lastly, it is our intention and vision to develop a track & trace platform that will fully integrate the entire horticultural industry.
